A Message from the desk of . . . Mrs. Tenna Anderton

          I would like to personally welcome everyone to our school.  Our children work very hard each day to be successful in his or her educational academic program.  We have a wonderful dedicated faculty and staff that have a deep commitment to meet the needs of each child that enters our school. 

      We are very excited about our newly renovated lunchroom.  What started out as a vision of a Union Grove Town Theme has become a wonderful reality. Our children are enjoying eating in an outdoor "Food Court" surrounded by places one might find in a town.  Everyday we are adding new items to our stores and unique areas.  Our town consists of a zoo, Railroad Depot, Firehouse Cafe, Pet Shop, Animal Hospital, Hardware Store, Florist, Garden Grove Produce and Bakery, Bait and Tackle Shop, Lu Lu's Boutique, Community Art Festival Celebration display, Barber Shop, and Beauty Shop.  It is truly an amazing adventure to eat in our lunchroom and enjoy eating at home in our special town of Union Grove.  Our school provides additional art enrichment activities through an Afterschool Cultural Arts Program and an outstanding Afterschool Extended Day.  Our Preschool Program was awarded on April 30, 2006 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).  This award was based on having demonstrated substantial compliance with nationally recognized Criteria for high-quality early childhood programs. 
      As an elementary teacher for 14 years children have always been my focus.  As principal of Union Grove Elementary School I am driven to provide a caring learning environment for our students and staff.  I believe in continuous academic growth.  
      I graduated from Athens State University with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education.  I have attended the University of Alabama and attained the following degrees:         
        Masters in Elementary Education
        Ed.S in Elementary Education        
        Administration in Educational Leadership Degree        
        I am currently working on a doctorate in Educational Leadership and plan to finish in the fall.
